Why does a bottle break , when we place a fully filled water bottle in the freezer? First, we need to understand the concepts of solid, liquid and gas. Solid - densely occupied atoms Liquid - less densely occupied atoms Gas - loosely packed atoms When we convert a liquid to solid, the volume decreases.
